About Us

This website was established in 2014 by ‘Red’, a woman of uncertain age and bright hair color, who loves to read.

We mostly review male/male a.k.a. gay romance. We generally only review books we can recommend, i.e. only if we can give them at least 3 stars. This is for a few reasons.

First, we want to be making recommendations to our readers, not putting them off a book.

Second, we appreciate that different books appeal to different readers, and it doesn’t seem right to mark a book down to the whole world just because this reader didn’t like it.

Third, life is too short (and good books are too numerous) for us to spend time finishing and reviewing books we hate. We’re not paid for these reviews, and we don’t want to feel obligated to read everything to the bitter end, just because we have a review to write.

Our star ratings go like this:

5 stars 5 stars – Adored it. Didn’t want it to end. This book can do no wrong.

4.5 stars 4.5 stars – Almost perfect. Maybe one small thing that stops it being 5 stars, but we loved it.

4 stars 4 stars – Liked it a lot. If there’s a series, we’d happily buy the rest. If not, we’ll be looking for more from this author.

3.5 stars 3.5 stars – A good solid read. We liked it, you might love it more.

3 stars 3 stars – We liked it, but either the plot or the characters failed to hook us completely.

2 stars 2 stars (not reviewed) – Meh. Just OK. We finished it, but wouldn’t recommend it.

1 stars 1 star (not reviewed) – Did not finish, or if we did, we wished we had the time back. Likely wanted to throw the book across the room.

We have no connection or affiliation with Red Adept Publishing.
