Proofreading Services

As well as reviewing books, PageTurner Reviews offers professional proofreading and editing services for independent authors. We know from our review work how many well-written books are let down by avoidable errors, and we want to help authors present their work at its best.

What We Offer

Our proofreading service covers the fundamentals: spelling, punctuation, grammar and consistency. We check for typos, formatting issues and the kind of small errors that slip through spellcheckers and self-editing. This is the right service for authors who are confident in their writing but want a second pair of eyes before publication.

Our editing service goes further. As well as correcting errors, we look at sentence-level clarity, paragraph structure, consistency of tone and readability. We do not rewrite your work, but we will flag passages that are unclear, repetitive or inconsistent and suggest revisions. This is the right service for authors who want feedback on the quality of their prose as well as its accuracy.

How It Works

Send us your manuscript as a Word document or PDF, along with a brief description of the book and its intended audience. We will assess the work and provide a quote based on length and the level of service you require. Turnaround times depend on the length of the manuscript, but we typically return proofread work within five working days and edited work within ten.

All work is handled in confidence. We do not share manuscripts with third parties, and we do not use client work in our reviews or on our site without permission.

Pricing

Pricing is based on word count and the level of service required. Proofreading is charged at a lower rate than editing, reflecting the difference in the work involved. We provide a firm quote before any work begins, so you know exactly what the service will cost.

We accept payment via bank transfer or PayPal. Work begins once payment is received and the quote is confirmed.

Who We Work With

We work with self-published authors, small presses and independent writers across all genres. We do not work with academic, technical or legal texts, as these require specialist knowledge we do not claim to have. If you are unsure whether your manuscript falls within our scope, send us a sample and we will let you know.
